BIOKate Froese Pottery is Kate's passion! She began pottery at age eight and knew it was where she wanted her life's work to be devoted. Kate works in her studio daily to create handmade mugs, bowls, plates, platters, planters, and so much more. Much of Kate's work is a reflection of her life in rural and northern Manitoba, as well as some more playful pieces inspired by escaping Manitoba winters and floating in warm salt water. Kate loves making dinnerware that brings people together around good food and great company.

I design and create all my pottery myself, in my home studio. I use Canadian clay from Plainsman in Alberta, and have sourced some local Manitoba clays used in my marbled work. I create most of my work on the pottery wheel, altering by carving, stamping, sculpting and decorating my pots before firing them in a pottery kiln and adding layers of underglaze, glaze, and oxides. Many of these products are Canadian, however my underglazes are made in the United States. I rely on a local print shop for my marketing material and some packaging items.
