I love wood and every piece I turn on my lathe has a story. The wood I use is all repurposed or from old limbs or roots I've collected. Sometimes the wood is found while wandering our trails in the Turtle Mountains of southwestern Manitoba, or on canoe trips on arduous portages or found lying on weather beaten shorelines. Often my neighbours call when a fruit tree has exceeded its expiry date or when a piano no longer holds a tune, on my lathe the raw wood is transformed and as as I turn it it's unique personality and character are revealed. Each piece is finished with a mixture of beeswax and foodgrade mineral oil.
