Biltong is a South African style of dried meat that is similar to beef jerky, but much more tender and with a different flavour profile. Mr. Biltong was started in 2017 by Jeremy & Megan Silcox, a Winnipeg couple who grew to love biltong a decade earlier while Jeremy was living in Johannesburg. Since biltong was hard to find in Winnipeg back then, Jeremy got a South African coworker to teach him how to make it for himself. Over the years, the recipe was tweaked and refined, and was always popular with friends and family. Last year, they started a business to share their delicious jerky with the rest of Manitoba.
